Watch the Sony FX3 stretch its legs in a production shoot testing ProRes RAW.
The Sony FX3 is a compact cinema camera with a punch, and I was able to get early access putting it through a real-world test and into the hands of a cinematographer to get feedback and see what this camera is all about.
So sit back, relax and learn what we found out.
The sensor technology is pretty much the same as the a7s III and FX6, which is not a bad thing. It’s actually a good thing because you can easily color match between the three cameras, and even with the FX9 because of S-Cinetone.
Designed for Versatility
What’s great about the FX3 is its size. You can use it with a shoulder rig or put it on a gimbal quickly and easily. That kind of versatility allows the camera to be put in more places than say larger cinema cameras or even heavier Alpha cameras that can struggle on a lighter gimbal. And that’s one of the key things about this camera: its compact size.
