Canon Releases Cool V1.1.1 Firmware for the EOS R5 and R6

Hot on the heels of the EOS R5 and EOS R6 debut, Canon has quickly fired back with firmware version 1.1.1 to keep things running smoothly for the advanced mirrorless digital cameras. Set to improve the performance of two of the most popular cameras of the year, this update mainly focuses on temperature detection and shooting time control for video workflows, including improved recording times when the short-time recording and power on/off functions are performed repeatedly at room temperature. This should make the R5 and R6 even more viable choices for video now that some of the overheating issues are being directly addressed, and longer clip lengths can be expected.

This firmware update also improves the clarity of the menu systems, notably when an HDMI cable-connected external monitor is in use and when working with the Slow Synchro flash mode. In addition, it improves RF lens performance and image stabilization when recording movies. FTP transmission speeds have been improved and CFexpress card access has been quickened, too.
